"A lack of time is really just a lack of priorities."  - Hugh Hines

The fitness and nutrition "industries" are two areas where science has had little to no impact on practice. I grew up playing sports and all my habits and methods for getting and staying in shape were based on what I learned from guys for whom "science" was a four-letter word! They meant well. They were only teaching what they were taught. The problem is that most of it is wrong.

Over the past few decades, science has taught us (at least those willing to learn) what is effective and what is not when working to change the body. The old "more, more, more" idea has been replaced with "just enough." In other words, our goal is to provide just enough "stimulus" to cause the body to change and then get out of our own way and let it happen.

So, if you are where I was several years ago, most of what you know about fitness is wrong. If you accept that premise and continue to read with an open mind, you'll be way ahead of the fitness power curve.

Fitness

Our concept of getting fit is based on good ol' "Biology 101." That is:

Stimulus/Response

Stimulate an organism and it will respond. Expose your skin to intense sunlight and it will respond by getting darker. It doesn't get darker immediately (though it may get red if burned), it takes a few days for the darkening to occur. Stimulate your body with an intense workout and it will respond by changing. It doesn't change immediately, it takes days for it to happen. Think about it. It makes sense.

The opposite can be said too. Stick your arm under a light bulb for few hours and nothing will happen because the intensity (and make-up of the light) is not high enough to cause change. Work-out as most people do and the same thing happens; no intensity, no change. You can do it all the time and never see change.

Our workouts are brief, intense, and infrequent.

Nutrition

Nutrition is an area where even "angels fear to tread." There are hundreds of theories and thousands of books about nutrition, but in reality its all very simple. No, its not "calories in/calories out". Well, not entirely but its not as important as you think.

I say that because our bodies, yours and mine, work the same way. The difference is the degree by which our body's respond to the nutrients we put in them. What makes it more complicated is that those reponses change over the years. You don't need anyone to point out that a teen's body responds differently to a diet of all pizza than a 50 year-old woman's!

We teach you in very simple terms how your body works with food. We then design a meal plan that will produce a leaner, stronger you, without going hungry, buying pre-packaged foods, or drinking your meals from a glass.

In summary . . .

. . . you'll strength train thirty minutes a week and follow a nutritional plan that will melt away the fat .  Wow, wish I could make it more complicated than that, but I can't.
